You’ll likely want to create some subpages here as history can be a huge subject when you’re looking at building a world. I’ve included a few already as well as some things to consider.
How old is this world?
What came before it? Many major Western countries have bulldozed over indigenous people to build their society (USA, Canada, Australia, to name a few).
How many people live in your country or on your planet?
Who do they have ongoing tensions with?
How much does the average citizen know about the history of this place? Is this knowledge tightly controlled? Has a government or other group spread a lot of misinformation about the past? Have books or knowledge been lost for whatever reason?
How do people feel about major historic events? For example, there is still a lot of shame in Germany around the events of World War II.
What level of technology does this world have? How is that impacting the weapons they use in war?
Are wars primarily using swords or other melee weapons? Bow and arrows? Guns? Large artillery like canons or tanks? Air warfare? Chemical warfare? Technological?
Are there magical people who are involved in the war? If so, how are they involved?
What about different magical creatures? For example, Naomi Novik created the entire Temeraire series around the idea of battle dragons in the Napoleonic era.
Or technological improvements such as the Jaegers in Pacific Rim or the many droids in Star Wars.
How has this changed over time?
Which battles and wars are most significant to the history of your location? A few events significant in various parts of the world: Pearl Harbor, World War II, Korean War, Battle of Gallipoli, Opium Wars, the Bosnian War, and the Greco-Persian Wars.
How did those wars shape the country? Did they lose or gain territory, for example.
Who fights in the wars? Are people conscripted? Is it a great honour?
